The Tough Pioneer Women series

I painted this series to have a feminist message.  These are strong women of the Southwest that have better things to do than pose and flirt for the viewer.  They are busy getting on with life.  They have the strength and beauty that other women see, appreciate and admire, away from the male gaze.

This series has been a success for me and I will continue the theme.  It is very gratifying that the collectors who are now enjoying their paintings from this series are all women.  So far.
